SENIOR PROJECT!
given all the animosity between students at tegesta high school, the staff and student advisory board have decided that instead of making students sit through hours of lectures and assemblies they are going to delegate important tasks to said students. the fighting, dramatics, and everything that goes with it are not lost on the staff of tegesta. students have been divided into four teams, each with a color theme that is completely irrelevant to the tasks they will be performing. there is a catch. these tasks are mandatory. instead of doing a senior paper, students will (as a team) document via photographs and video tapes their journey and experiences. the goal of this project is to teach the students of tegesta high that responsibility, determination, and maturity are valuable assets. the charities selected by the board of advisers will hopefully help them realize their problems are small compared to some being faced out there and will help them gain perspective on life as a whole. we'll see if that's just wishful thinking on their behalf! if the students, as a team, do not turn in a documentary (one in video form and one in scrap book form) they will fail senior year. any student that does not participate will fail their senior year.
the students will be in charge of organizing one large function to raise money for each of their charities. that is two large functions total. they are also allowed and encouraged to hold small functions (i.e. car washes, bake sales, yard sales, awareness lectures, etc). this is completely left up to the students and the staff will not be assisting. this is a chance for various characters to interact and have a specific goal in mind. this should be all over the friends page and have everyone interacting and socializing and planning. a point system based on activity will eventually determine the winner!
SHADY PINES is a made up retirement home in tegesta. it's a private nursing home, not a state or government licensed one. it's suffering from an extreme lack of funding. students are required to get to know the residents before holding a fundraiser on their property.
STEPPIN' UP is an organization based in key west that serves children who have one or both parents in jail or prison. it's a lot like "big brothers and big sisters." students will be expected to have a child assigned to them that they spend time with.
the rest of the charities are self explanatory! we hope that you have fun and this gets a lot of cliques interacting with each other. no, you are not allowed to change teams. comment here (they are screened) if we have accidentally left anyone off the list, let us know! or, if you're a new member, you will be added to a team immediately. the point system runs as follows, based on activity in the various communities and your character's journal:
lyrics ( visualizer)- 1 point cryptic ( ambiguous) - 5 points random ( willynilly) - 10 points threads/scenes ( floridian) - 20 points music challenge ( beatboxed) - 20 points substantial updates - 50 points
NOTES points for threads or scenes go to all parties involved, so long as they're listed but WON'T be tallied unless the interaction progresses upwards of FIVE responses. in addition, substantial updates include any journal entry that's two paragraphs or more AND includes some reflection, giving us insight as to who your character is.
